Our History

C&H Testing Service, Inc. was founded in September 1981. The company began at a small yard on Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield, CA with three testing trucks and five employees. Mr. Hoover was still employed with a large refiner and needed to apply for permission to start the business, which was subsequently granted.

By the summer of 1982 the business was expanding and Mr. Hoover needed to resign from his current employer to devote his efforts towards the continued growth of C&H Testing. Over the next three years he built three more testing trucks, each more advanced than the last. The oil recession of 1983-84 hurt business but also represented opportunities to cull ailing competitors. In 1989 Mr. and Mrs. Hoover became sole owners. On April 8, 1994 C&H Testing  acquired its competitor Pro-Tester which doubled their fleet size. In August of 1997 they purchased Hydrotest and the company grew by six additional test trucks resulting in C&H Testing being the largest testing firm of its kind in California. In 2000 C&H Testing expanded its service capabilities with the purchase of a Scan-A-Log Wall Inspection System.

Today C&H Testing continues to grow with the purchase of Buck's Testing in November 2011. We currently have 25 test trucks with one under fabrication. Additionally, we now have two Scan-A-Log units, and three trailer mounted BOP units. In November 2009 we put two new state-of-the art off-shore platform skid unit into service. Our test equipment design continues to improve and as the leader is imitated in both design and function by our competitors. We now employ thirty full time personnel and up to five additional part time and seasonal people. Click here to see some pictures of our open house.
